Pizza Escarole

While named ‘pizza’, this Italian dish is a closer relative to a pie than a traditional pizza! Crammed full of delicious escarole, you can enjoy this type of pizza guilt-free any time.

Preparation and Cooking Time: 60 minutes

Serves: 4-6


  • Shop-bought pizza dough – or follow our own recipe for delicious pizza dough
  • 1 head of sautéed escarole
  • Anchovies
  • Shallot
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Olives
  • Pine nuts
  • Capers


  1. Grease a pie pan, and lay half of the pizza dough into it. Try to cover the bottom of the pan, and as much of the sides as possible.
  2. Place the sautéed escarole in the middle of the pan, leaving space between the edge of the pan and the escarole.
  3. Flatten the other half of the dough and place it over the top of the pie pan. Use your fingers to twist the edges of the pastry to seal. Cut some small holes in the top to allow air to escape.
  4. Place in your Wood Fired Pizza Oven for around 40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden-brown.
